The scene of General Wolfe's death is derived (in reverse) from William Woollett's popular 1776 engraving after Benjamin West's painting, now in the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa.

CIRCA 1800, PERHAPS HERCULANEUM
Transfer printed and coloured with the Death of Wolfe at Quebec with Fame blowing a trumpet with a banner dated 1759 in clouds above, the reverse with BRITANIA (sic.) REWARDING THE GALLANT RODNEY. on a ribbon below, a group of military trophies beneath the spout, the top rim with a brown band with white pendant lappets with swags of blue foliage below (restoration to spout, slight chipping and staining to footrim)
