signed 'Rodin' (on the back of the base); inscribed with the foundry mark 'F.BARBEDIENNE' (on the left side of the base); inscribed '613i' (on the inside)
bronze with dark brown patina
Height: 9 5/8 in. (24.5 cm.)
Conceived in 1884 and in this reduced size in 1898; this bronze version cast circa 1905
Provenance
Felix Alfermann, Berlin, by whom acquired circa 1905, and thence by descent to the present owner.
