Lot Essay
A very similar Breguet timepiece (No. 1015) in identical monogrammed box, originally sold to King Fouad I of Egypt on 8 November 1925 (for FF 3688) was sold Christie's Geneva, 11 May 2009, lot 302 (SFR 32,500). Ann Chermside was employed by King Farouk of Egypt (1920-1965) as governess to his children, particularly to Ahmed Fouad, later King Fouad II (b.1952). She fled with the royal family when King Farouk was deposed in 1952. King Fouad I was a regular client of Breguet. For Breguet see also lots 98, 102 and 103.
