Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with enamel dial, Breguet numerals and subsidiary seconds in 1911 and its subsequent sale on 9 November 1923.

Pocket watches by Patek Philippe with Guillaume balance are generally found in openface cases. Hunting cased examples, such as the present watch, are rare. This watch is believed to be one of the largest hunter case watches with guillaume balance known to have survived to date.

Its balance staff is furthermore set with a diamond endstone instead of the more commonly used ruby endstone, a feature only found in movements of superior quality.
