Lot Essay

Wang Shixiang (1914-2009), sobriquet Changan, was a native of Beijing. Coming from a family of officials, Wang was a lover of ancient poetry, sketching, Qing dynasty furniture, bamboo carving. Having taught at the Central Academy of Historical Research, The National Relics Authentication department, he received a lifetime award for his contribution to Chinese Arts and Culture in 2005.
