'Thomas Ruff astounds with his ever newer images, respectively created in larger groupings. But the context of what at first appears to be such a diverse series of images evolves to the overview of a complete body of work investigating photography as an image medium, and comparable to the seemingly contradictory groups of images by the painter Gerhard Richter.'
