FRENCH. A GOLD AND ENAMEL OPENFACE CYLINDER WATCH WITH MATCHING CHAIN
UNSIGNED, NO. 21996, CIRCA 1840
Gilt-finished cylinder movement, ruby endstone, plain three-arm balance, gold cuvette, engine-turned silver dial, Roman numerals, gilt Breguet hands, bezel finely decorated with cloisonné and champlevé enamel floral and foliate motifs, slim circular case, hinged back decorated with two white enamel winged lions flanking the sides of an urn amidst finely painted cloisonné and champlevé enamel palmette, floral and foliate motifs, with finely chased and engraved floral, foliage and fruit decorating the bezel, pendant and bow, with matching detachable chain, movement and cuvette numbered, cuvette later signed Breguet
45 mm. diam.; overall length of chain 375 mm.
