Lot Essay

US$95,000-150,000

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated February 1998, additional case back, setting pin, instruction manual, product literature and original fitted presentation box. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1997 and its subsequent sale on 25 November 1997.

The present watch is a very rare example of a reference 3970 and is believed to be part of the exceedingly small series of this celebrated model to be cased in white gold.

Most evident to the beholders eye are the sharp case proportions, well defined fluted lugs, crisp hallmarks and untouched dial.

Fresh to the market, this rare version is a very attractive and extremely well preserved white gold example of a reference 3970 and will most certainly gather the interest of avid collectors.

The celebrated reference 3970 was in production from 1986 until 2004. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 305.
