Lot Essay

Worn to Princess Grace of Monaco's fortieth birthday 'Scorpio' ball on November 15, 1969. Scorpio was the Princess' birth sign, and although Miss Taylor was herself a Pisces, she was invited as the wife of a Scorpio, Richard Burton.

At this time, Karl Lagerfeld was Tiziani's freelance designer, and this cape may well be one of his designs.
