Furthermore delivered with Association of Offshore Diving Contractors Professional Diver's Log Book of Mr. Maurice Ward, including a passport photo, and stamped Comex Diving Ltd., issued 2 December 1975, personal notebook stamped Diving Superintendent Maurice Ward Svitzer Diving Services with technical formulas, a booklet from the Association of British Professional Diver's with the Articles of Membership, as well as a blue presentation map, containing several professional diving Certificates of Mr. Ward, work-related correspondence and photographs showing him during his diving work.
Formerly the property of Maurice Ward, a professional deep sea diver, this watch was presented to him by COMEX in recognition for his services on 30 March 1984. It is sold with a variety of documents, photographs and others, showing the different stages of his professional life. The watch is preserved in very good original overall condition.
As of the late 1960s, Rolex supplied different Submariner models with or without the patented gas escape valve to the side to COMEX (Compagnie Maritime d'Expertise) in Marseille, a professional diving operation for the oil industry.
The present watch is from the reference 16800 series, in production from 1982 until 1986, with the COMEX designation on the outside of the screw back and on the dial. Part or the entire serial number was repeated to the inside of the case back, a feature only seen on this model and reference 5513 which was supplied to COMEX and to military forces. The case back of the present watch bears reference 16800 and 8247602, the entire serial number.
