Der Niederdorfheld, wie ihn Adolf Max Vogt in der Neuen Zürcher Zeitung anlässlich einer Varlin-Ausstellung im Kunsthaus nannte, stellt Josef Rudolf dar, ein Antiquitätenhändler aus dem Niederdorf, einem Stadtteil von Zürich.

The 'Niederdorf Hero,' as Adolf Max Vogt called him in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung on the occasion of Varlin's exhibition at the Kunsthaus, depicts Josef Rudolf, an antiques dealer from the Niederdorf, a district of Zurich.
