Exceptional works like these by the pupil of William Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) are rare to the art market. This diligent and talented artist took part in several concours of which he won first prize in the Grand Prix de Rome of 1879, subsequently becoming one of the most notable genre and history painters of France.
