The bevelled plate painted with two European ladies leaning on a gnarled tree-trunk and a girl emerging from a curtained doorway, with woodland, a coast and pagoda beyond, in original mother-of-pearl and satinwood-inlaid zitan moulded frame with bronze handle, inscribed to the reverse with a Chinese character and in red chalk 'over bed'
