Longevity/Calligraphy

This folding fan was dedicated to Li Qiujun (1899-1973), a native of Zhenhai, Zhejiang. She was a representative of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, a teacher at the Institute of Chinese Paintings in Shanghai, a member of the Chinese Artists Association and a comrade of the China Democratic League. She started practicing painting with her brother, who introduced her to Zhang Daqian. Li and Zhang eventually became very close friends.
