Mechanical gilt-finished engraved full-plate jewelled verge movement, chain fusée, pierced and engraved balance cock, ruby-set endstone, three-arm balance, quarter repeating activated through the stem, repeating on a bell, dust cover, white enamel dial, gilt basket weave center zone, Roman numerals, outer black Arabic five minute divisions, blued steel fleur de lis hands, circular pierced and engraved inner case, pierced and engraved outer case stamped 20k, back cover with guilloché blue enamel background, red and white enamel lilies with gilt folliage, blue guilloché enamel bezel, red and white enamel lilies with gilt folliage, diamond-set opening, movement and dust cover signed, inner case back stamped GLD, outer case stamped 20k

Lot Essay

G. H. Baillie, Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, vol. 1, 1988 lists Abraham Collomby Geneva and London working during the period from 1745-1760. He was known for high quality watches including pair case watches and gem-set watches. The firm Collomby & Cie remained in existence until the early part of the 19th century and exported watches throughout England, Italy and Spain.
