Born Naples, Italy, 1952. Studied architecture at the Università degli Studi di Roma, La Sapienza, Italy, 1970. Exhibitions include: Venice Biennale, 1980; Whitechapel Gallery, London, 1983; Clemente: A Retrospective of the Prints 1980-1990, Dolan/Maxwell, Philadelphia, 1990; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1997; Musée d'Art Moderne , Centre de Georges Pompidou, Paris, France, 1994-2002; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, 2002. He collaborated with Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol on a group of works in 1984. Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters, 2002. He lives in New York.
