Lot Essay

The present watch is from the first series of the legendary Royal Oak series, introduced into the market in 1972. Available in 18K gold, stainless steel and gold and stainless steel and generally fitted with anthracite grey dials, examples fitted with a dial bespoke dial, such as the present watch, are exceedingly rare. Its rarity is further enhanced by the very good overall condition.

It is interesting to know that the dial of the present Royal Oak is inscribed in Arabic with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
