The 12-inch globes supported in brass meridian rings mounted in mahogany tripod stands with four quadrants supporting the red-rimmed horizon ring, the stretchers support the glazed compasses with blued iron needles and engraved compass cards with 32 directions; the horizon ring is papered with an engraved and hand-coloured ring with scales for degrees, the names of the signs of the Zodiac with symbols, 32 compass directions, the names and days of the months, the terrestrial with cartouche ‘CARY’S NEW TERRESTRIAL GLOBE, from the best authorities extant Exhibiting The different Tracks of CAPTAIN COOK and the new Discoveries made by him’
