Aus der Sammlung Dr. Rudolf und Leonore Blum Die Sammlung Blum ist eine Sammlung, die die Leidenschaft eines Ehepaars widerspiegelt, das die Welt auf der Suche nach aussergewöhnlichen Kunstwerken und Trophäen der Grosswildjagd bereiste. So bietet die Sammlung Blum einen Einblick in die globale Kultur. Gleichzeitig verfolgten sie mit grösstem Interesse die lokale Schweizer Kunstszene, deren Werke sie seit Beginn der 1950er Jahre sammelten. Diese Objekte bilden den Grundstock der Kunstsammlung während sie Anfang der 1960er Jahre begannen, sich auch auf die internationale Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts zu fokussieren. So umfasst ihre herausragende Sammlung ein Zusammenspiel von afrikanischer Stammeskunst, moderner und Nachkriegs-, moderner britischer und europäischer Kunst, Asiatika sowie Antiquitäten. Während sie zwar in den vergangenen dreissig Jahren die unterschiedlichen Kontinente bereisten und aus den verschiedensten Ländern Kunstwerke und Andenken mitbrachten, so blieb doch die Schweizer Kunst ein bedeutender Schwerpunkt ihres Interesses. Stetig komplettierten sie diese Sammlung mit Meisterwerken wie Fritz Glarners Relational Painting no. 61 aus dem Jahre 1953, wegweisenden Skulpturen von Max Bill, Bernhard Luginbühl, Franz Fischer und Silvio Mattioli sowie Zeichnungen von Le Corbusier, Hans Arp, Jean Tinguely, Louis Soutter und Gemälden von Varlin, die die Bedeutung der modernen Schweizer Kunst veranschaulichen und gleichzeitig den intellektuellen Zugang zur Kunst, das wissende und wissbegierige Auge sowie die tiefgreifende Kennerschaft des Sammlerehepaars Blum reflektieren. Property from the Collection of Dr. Rudolf and Leonore Blum The Blum collection is a collection that reflects the passion of this married couple who travelled the world in search of outstanding artworks and trophies of big-game hunting. Thus, the Blum collection offers insight into global culture. Throughout this time, they continued to pursue their avid interest in the Swiss Art scene, some works of which they began to collect from the 1950's onwards. These pieces formed the basis of their art collection while, from the 1960's onwards, they turned their attention to the international art scene of the 20th century. Thus, their outstanding collection is a synergy of African tribal art, modern and post-war art, modern British and European art, as well as art from Asia, and some antiques. While travelling across all the continents over the last thirty years, bringing home pieces and souvenirs from all kinds of countries, Swiss art nevertheless remained a focal point of their interest. They steadily completed their collection with masterpieces, e.g., Fritz Glarner's Relational Painting no. 61 from 1953, ground-breaking sculptures by Max Bill, Bernhard Luginbühl, Franz Fischer and Silvio Mattioli, as well as drawings by Le Corbusier, Hans Arp, Jean Tinguely and Louis Soutter, and paintings by Varlin, all of which reflect not only the significance of Swiss art, but also the intellectual capacity of the Blum's to understand art, and their discerning and inquisitive eye for a subject of which they were profound connoisseurs.
