A Lacquer Suzuribako [Writing Box]
Signed Tatsuke Takahiro and sealed, Edo period (18th century)
Of rectangular form with overhanging cover decorated in gold, silver, black and brown hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and togidashi-e with a bull beside a basket of cut flowers and grasses and a scythe, under a pine tree, the interior of the cover with an intricate urushi painting of a temple complex among rocky mountains and a lake against a silver fundame ground, the interior decorated overall in nashiji, fitted inner tray decorated with a flower spray, gilt copper water dropper in the form of banded hedges
25 x 23cm.
