Always searching to build professional watches able to sustain harsh conditions, year 1967 saw the launch of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller. Engineered to meet the needs of professional deep-sea divers, the watch was waterproof to a depth of 610 meters and fitted with a helium escape valve, preventing damages to the watch during decompression phases in hyperbaric chambers.
