Gilt-finished verge movement, chain fusée, finely pierced and engraved balance cock and foot, plain three arm balance, repeating on two hammers onto a bell, gilt metal dust cap, later white enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic five minute divisions, inner case with finely pierced scroll and floral decorated band, the back centered by an engraved trophy of arms, outer case with finely chased, pierced and embossed scroll and foliage decorated bezel, the reverse centred by a pierced, chased and embossed convivial scene in high relief, repeating through the pendant, movement signed, dust cap signed and numbered

The watch and clock maker John Archambo was a son of Peter Archambo II (d1759), goldsmith, registered at The Golden Cup, Green Street, Leicester Fields, with a workshop in London, New Street, known by the sign of the Green Man. His grandfather, originally Pierre Archambaud, was a Huguenot refugee who came to London and worked as a staymaker. His brother, Peter Archambo III was a silversmith.
