Lot Essay

‘The Surrealistic aspects in my work function like bodily extensions which can be understood as reactions to historical and social limitations ... I am also interested in ‘interior design’ but seen in terms of architectural theory. Interior design answers the contradiction between the idea of Surrealism and architecture … It has to do with the inside of your head, the body, the internal room, and the room inside you. I like to insist on the difference between exterior and interior architecture. This inner room has always been a space for women, for divas and dandies, for outsiders, for homos to retreat, to make a place for themselves. If you really look, you realize that the most interesting interiors are also potentially explosive, even if they don’t have the capacity to destroy the room’ (N. Baghramian, quoted in, D. Eichler, ‘Explosive Interiors’, in Mousse Magazine, reproduced at http:/moussemagazine.it/articolo.mm?id=91).
