With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with porcelain-white dial and 12 Breguet numerals in 1989 and its subsequent sale on 21 August 1989. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe fitted presentation box and outer packaging.
In 1989 Patek Philippe made 2200 pieces of this watch to commemorate the firm's 150th Anniversary. Of those, 2000 were cased in yellow gold. The reference 3960's design was influenced by the first wristwatches of the early 20th century with a rounded bezel. The design of the reference 3960 features an officers style case back that when opened reveals the 150th anniversary engraving and movement number.
