Officine Panerai began its rich history in watchmaking in Florence since 1860. In the beginning,Panerai manufactured watches exclusively to the Royal Italian Navy, but in 1993, they decided to release a collection of three limited wristwatches. In 1997, Panerai became a major player in the market of fine watchmaking by becoming a part of the Vendôme Luxury Group, later renamed as Richemont Group. The Pre-Vendôme is used to describe the watches made from 1993 - 1997 due to Panerai’s change from being an independent watch manufacturer to a mainstream manufacturer.
The present Luminor Slytech Submersible is exceedingly rare and one of the most highly collectible Pre-Vendôme models. The case back of the watch is engraved with 65/200, and presumably only 95 examples of the watch still exists in the market. The Slytech Panerai also features Stallone’s engraved signature on the case back, where Sylvester Stallone’s nickname - “SLY” is printed on its dial.
