Lot Essay

“Such colors are human, even when there are outside of us, while forming an integral part of our personalities and of our interior lives; they are in this regard charged with all of our sentimental affectivity. What is so extraordinary about this is that, as we realize this, we are free, for color itself is free!” (Y. Klein, from The Monochrome Adventure: The Monochrome Epic, in K. Ottmann, Overcoming the Problematics of Art: The Writings of Yves Klein, New York, 2007, p. 142)
