Lot Essay

In 2008, Zarina began to explore the idea of Noor, or divine light, using gold leaf in her meditative works on paper and sculptural pieces. Executed as a group of twenty five collages, 'Through the Window Lightly' is a rhythmic and reverent work, almost like a luminous chatai (mat) or chequer-board with its alternating squares of gold.
