Lot Essay

‘I care very much about the surface of my paintings and in some places the paint is ten to twelve layers thick; in other parts the original charcoal drawing may still be there, showing through. My surface is all about the varying thickness of the paint in different parts of the canvas’ (A. Alsoudani, Ahmed Alsoudani, New York 2009, p. 61).
