Tan Ernan (1912-2004), born in Yixing, Jiangsu, graduated from Hangzhou National Academy of Art, a classmate of Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun etc. Tan taught in Shanghai Eleventh Women’s High School. After he retired, he stay with his daughters in Shanghai and in Beijing, and continued to have a good relationship with the artist.
