Lot Essay

Reference 6264 and 6262 are the standard Rolex Daytona references – not counting bejeweled versions - with the shortest production run, and consequently among the rarest. The present lot completes the set inaugurated with the previous watch. Christie’s is excited to offer both these exclusive models, furthermore with matching Paul Newman dials: a more than exceptional occasion for the avid collector of vintage Daytonas.

The present piece shines not only for its overall condition, but also for the presence the Guarantee paper, additional bezel, and crystal clear provenance, having been sold in this same room in May 2016. Furthermore, the piece was serviced by Rolex just a few months ago, which did not touch any of the watch parts, but simply clean and oiled the movement, restoring it to its former glory.

For a note on reference 6262 and 6264, see the previous lot.
