Lot Essay

In excellent overall condition, this example of the highly coveted ref. 1680 stands out by its clean and attractive dial with red Submariner script. Nicknamed “Red-Sub” by Rolex collectors, the timepiece features attractive luminous accents that have aged to a uniform color. The full case has never been subject to careless polishing, the bracelet is the correct version for this model.

The appeal of tis “single red Sub” is further enhanced by the presence of the period accessories, including its square green tag announcing the introduction of the Triplock crown as "3 dots on winding crown” and its original under water anchor, all rarities by themselves.
