Ref. 5021 was introduced in 2003 and discontinued in 2008, pairing IWC's self-winding 7-day movement with Kurt Klaus' ingenious perpetual calendar module. Moreover, the timepiece features a 'Double Moon' moon phases display, allowing its owner to read the moon phases in both the southern and northern hemisphere.
During the relatively short production period of this reference, its caliber has been changed three times: between 2003 and 2005 the model was powered with the caliber 50611, such as the present wristwatch, followed in 2005 until 2006 with the caliber 51612 and from 2007 until 2008 with the caliber 51614.
