According to the Archives of Omega, the present watch was manufactured in 1960 and supplied to the Swiss market.
It is from the second series of the Speedmaster Professional line launched in 1959 as reference 2998 which became ST 105.002 in 1962. The model differs from the first series by the Alpha hands, the tachymetre scale now in black aluminium and calibrated to 500-60 km/h instead of the previous "Base 1000 300-60 km/h".
The present watch stands out by its attractive dial displaying a subtle dark brown “tropical” colour and its very honest overall condition, still retaining the original bezel and the original crystal displaying the micro size Omega symbol in the centre.
For a description and illustration of ref. CK 2998 see Marco Richon's h Time, p. 598 pl 987, and John Goldberger's Omega Watches, p. 224. A similar watch is illustrated in Alberto Isnardi's The Master of Omega, pp. 20 & 21
