Lot Essay

Two waitresses stop for a brief conversation, both wearing red aprons and striped obi, and one holds a sake kettle in her hand. They stand beside a sign which reads Eiraku-an/ Kyoto Gion Niken-jaya, demise 'Eiraku-an: branch of the Tea-house of the Two Eaves, Gion, Kyoto'.
The same print is in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, accession number 34.342.
