During his career Lobo was known to have changed the number of the editions of some of his works several times. For Torse he initially planned to produce nine casts, but eventually decided to reduce the size of the edition. This explains why the present lot is numbered '1/9' although the artist decided to cast only eight examples, plus four artist's proofs eventually. Some of the casts in the edition were made with a golden patina, like the present sculpture, while others are patinated in brown.
