Lot Essay
The arms are those of Bagot impaling those of Fitzroy, for William Bagot, 2nd Baron Bagot, born in 1773, the third but first surviving son and heir of William, 1st Baron. He married, first, in 1799, Emily, 4th daughter of Charles, 1st Lord Southampton. After Emily died of consumption in 1800, he married Louisa, daughter of George, 3rd Earl of Dartmouth in 1807. A Tory in politics, he was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. He died aged 82 in 1856.
