Brockhurst experimented with lithography in the later 1930s, and made a series of prints of heads in which the faces were highly finished, with dense, rich modelling, but the hair or head coverings were left as outlines. This drawing shares that aesthetic, directing the viewer's focus towards the model's face, while her hair is simply loosely outlined, giving a fresh and modern appearance.
