Lot Essay

The stamp on the verso of these photographs has been identified as M9 in Steven Manford’s book, Behind the photo: the stamps of Man Ray (2009). According to Manford, this is a lifetime Val de Grâce stamp used from 1935 to 1937 (p. 21).
