HM Borges, Terrantez 1862
Recorked in 2015 by OP. Three part moulded bottle. Wax capsule. Bin soiled damaged label. Level: into-neck
Tasting note: First tasted June 2015. In first instance a bit dusty off putting nose, clearly bottle stink as with air the true aromas emerged. Fine-tuned, minty, dried rose petals, intriguing and complex. On the taste more direct then the nose would make you expect. Touch spirity over a medium sweet pure taste. Quite intense and lingering, nice grapefruit bitters and fine racy acidity. Wine of strength, the alcohol is somewhat present to be graded excellent. On the after taste this is more mellowed and balanced. None the less a very good Terrantez of character. Maybe not the right bottle, it did have A year and a half later showing much more character. A more uplifted nose, touch volatile, old banana leaves, quite sweet and concentrated, lots of strength and depth. On the taste at first sweet rich mouth filling with quite a punch of high natural acidity. Great complexity. A wine that goes on and on. Last tasted January 2017. EV
