Lot Essay

Elizabeth Reynolds was the daughter of Mrs. Thomas Eakins's cousin, Col. Alfred Reynolds. Eakins depicted her in the present work at approximately age fourteen. She attended Hollins College in Virginia and enlisted as a Red Cross nurse during World War I.
