Lot Essay

The artist orients the viewer and describes the view in an inscription on the reverse which reads as follows: "to the far north west Mt. Equinox to the far southwest is the Berkshire hills, next battle field park mountain, next vanners hill, Oak hill in the center, Mt. Tom and the Owl Kill, to the west oak hill range". Moses revists the Cambridge Valley many times in her career. This work is one of her earliest paintings completed prior to 1940.
