A RARE MAYAN STONE FIGURAL MARKER

The erect and solid figure standing on a tapering peg base, distinguished by a narrow torso, delineated pectorals, squared shoulders and well-defined buttocks, the cupped hands deeply drilled possibly once holding offerings, the impassive, full-cheeked face topped with a tiered headdress; in grey basalt.

Représentation en basalte gris d’un personnage humain placé sur un socle conique, caractérisé pas son torse étroit, l’évocation visible de ses pectoraux, ses épaules carrées et le fessier rebondi, aux mains montrées repliées très en creux ayant peut être contenu des offrandes, et au visage joufflu impassible surmonté d’une coiffe à gradins.
