CUNHA COLLECTION
The Cunha family were the last residents of Quinta Vigia, the official residence of the Madeira government, as they inherited it in the beginning of the 1900s. The actual Quinta Vigia had two names before the present one: Quinta Lambert and Quinta das Angústias, the name in use when the Cunha family was living there. Tomas Cunha Santos sold the Quinta to the government in 1970s. The original wine company in the name of Julio A. (Augusto) Cunha was founded in 1820. The Cunha wines in this auction came from a direct descendant of Julio A. Cunha.
Cunha, Sercial 1830
Rebottled in 2016 by FMA. New wax capsule with A Madeira seal. Stencilled bottle
Level into neck

High-toned, straw and lemon fresh style of nose. Subdued, backward still, touch of butter. Pure and youthful appearance. Good concentration. Soft creamy taste to start, buttery mouthfeel with pure citrus fruit flavors, followed by great finesse of acidity. Lingering fresh finish of classic aged Sercial. Love this wine.
