拍品专文

The present drawing is a preparatory study for Klimt's Beethovenfries, 1902 (fig. 1), a frieze designed for the Vienna Secession building in conjunction with an exhibition of Max Klinger's statue of Beethoven in April-June 1902. Fragments of the original frieze are now exhibited in the Österreichische Galerie in Untere Belvedere, Vienna.
