The hinged support pierced with foliage scrolls and fleurs-de-lis, centring a further fleurs-de-lis below a coronet, on scroll edged panel feet, marked on frame

The cypher and coronet would appear to be for a prince of Royal blood.

The maître abonnés were silversmiths who worked in provincial towns some way from the Maison Commune. Due to the difficulties of transporting plate to and from the centres of assay they were excused from submitting their work on the payment of an annual fee. They struck their work two or three times with their maître abonné mark.
