This lot is accompanied by a letter, dated June 7, 1984 from Mia Smith to Marjorie Neikrug in which she states: 'This to confirm that the photograph of alternate version of 'The Spinner' from Spanish Village was photographed and printed by W. Eugene Smith and given to me as a gift in the 1950s. I believe he printed it when he returned from Spain.'
