One of the founders of Gruppo 58, a Naples based group of neosurrealist and neodadaist artists, del Pezzo worked as a painter and sculpture. He later moved to Paris and Milan where his pieces were the subject of several exhibitions. While part of the Pop art movement, his work was influenced by the 'pittura metafisica' of De Chirico, Carrà and Morandi.
