According to the Archives of Audemars Piguet, the present watch was delivered to the company's agent in France in 1967.
A similar watch bearing number 56'743 is illustrated and described in Audemars Piguet by Gisbert L. Brunner, Christian Pfeiffer-Belli and Martin K. Wehrli, p. 231, pl. 311, 313b & 314b. For a black and white image of a comparable wristwatch also by Audemars Piguet and retailed by Cartier see Le Temps de Cartier by Jader Barracca, Giampiero Negretti, Franco Nencini, p. 252, and as a colour drawing on p. 179, op. cit. It is however interesting to note that the latter do not feature the typical Cartier bold Roman numerals but the more standard Audemars Piguet dial layout with applied baton numerals.
