This important 1967 work by Tabrizi shares with his later paintings subject matter drawn from Persian traditional painting- riders on horseback with historical attributes, but the highly abstracted style and division of the canvas into distinct areas, recalls that on talismanic shirts and metal plates, as well as coffee house painting. It is a visual language clearly related to that of Qandriz, Zenderoudi and Pilaram, but in later years his lyrical figural style was to diverge greatly from theirs.
