Although born in Iran, Manoucher Yektai lived and trained in New York from 1948. From the 1950s onwards he painted in the gestural Abstract Expressionist style. Others from the group include such household names as Willem de Kooning, Sam Francis and Jackson Pollock.
The great maturity and skill of Yektai's work, as well as his affiliation to this group which changed the course of international Post-War art sets him aside from other Iranian artists.
